My name is Monica Simpson, and I am so excited to serve as your child's school counselor this year!I was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, and began my educational journey at Tyler Junior College, where I earned my Associate of Arts in Teaching. I continued my studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Master of Arts in Counseling, and completing the Principal Certification Program.
Before transitioning into counseling , I spent six wonderful years in the classroom, teaching students from Pre-K through 4th grade. I have now been a school counselor for nine years, working with students in Early Childhood through Middle School, including in Special Education. Every step of this journey has deepened my passion for supporting each student’s academic, social, and emotional well-being. I absolutely love what I do, and I’m dedicated to meeting the unique needs of all our students. This school year will be filled with meaningful opportunities for social and emotional learning, growth, and connection.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to connect. Let’s make it a great year — Go Wildcats!

I was born and raised in Corrigan, Texas. First and foremost, I am a wife and mom to a beautiful daughter. I've been a school counselor for 3 years. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with my Bachelor's in English with a focus in Secondary Education and following that, I received my Master's from Texas A&M University in Educational Psychology and at Lamar University in Clinical Mental Health where I earned my Licensed Professional Counselor certification. I have previously worked in middle school, the school mental health setting, and in education as an ELAR teacher.
As a school counselor and advocate, I provide support to our students in their academics, careers, and personal/social lives. I believe it is important to provide support in all areas to assist our students in becoming productive and resilient students for our community. Education is something that I have valued ever since I was a kid because I am a strong believer that it is one thing that cannot be taken away from you. As a school counselor, I want to make sure that every student's mental, physical, educational, and emotional needs are being met so that they can reach their fullest potential and be aware of all the opportunities that await them.
