IB1 Extended Essay Presentation
This week IB Diploma students in year 1 attended a presentation on one of the three core components of the Diploma Programme - the Extended Essay. In order to be awarded an International Baccalaureate diploma, students have to write an extended academic essay of 3,500 - 4,000 words on a topic of their choice. Working on it helps students gain confidence writing lengthy essays, it teaches them to gather and evaluate sources, and it improves their time management. It will also prepare them for college level writing with an understanding of formal academic styles.
