Our ECC students have been learning about their place in the world and in their families. The evidence of their learning is proudly displayed on the walls of the building.
Our students love UN Day. Here is one of our clubs preparing a wall display for the foyer to highlight our international mindedness. When our students arrived on Wednesday morning they had a lot of fun looking at the different national clothing their friends wore.
Our running club were training on the steps "Rocky" style feeling very good about themselves. Our chess teacher is training up some very eager learners, and our Animal Care Club were hard at work creating posters and information about the animals on our campus so we can all take good care of them.
Our newly-formed Primary Football Team were in action on Wednesday afternoon. They travelled to the British International School in their new Football uniforms and participated in a very exciting game. Both teams were evenly matched in this high-scoring game, but MEFIS took the early advantage with goals from Haadi and Victor. The British School soon saw themselves back in the game despite some fantastic goalkeeping from Onur. Further goals from Sacha, Hyeokjun and Haadi resulted in the game finish 6-6. This was a great achievement for our 1st MEFIS Primary football game of the year. Congratulations to all our players, and a particular thank you to our coaches Mr. Darren Richardson and Atakan Guneyligil.
Secondary students supported Primary students by dressing in traditional costumes and rooting for Primary students during the UN Day Parade. While Secondary students designed and decorated doors in the theme of 'rights of a child' as part of UN Week.
MEF IS played in the International High School Football Competition recently at Robert College, where 17 teams took part. MEF IS boys finished 8th overall; MEFIS girls 2nd team beat the overall winner; and MEF IS girls 1st team were successful, finishing 4th overall.
IB1 Chemistry students recently learned and Grade 10 students are in the process of learning about moles, which are standard units that enable the weights of two substances to be calculated in chemistry. There were educational games and baked goods whose sales were used to benefit TEGV, an organization that provides educational programs to children in primary schools.
The Secondary celebrated the foundation of the IB, which took place some 50 years ago, with activities designed to honor the educational mission of the IB.
