SS IB Diploma - Creativity Action Service Activity
This past Saturday, a group of IB1 students attended an orientation session at the Boğaziçi Üniversity Sanctuary (BU PAWS). Students will volunteer to help walk and play with its sixty-six dogs that are housed and cared for there.
Career Awareness and Career Paths in Primary School
Grade 3 students have been working on career awareness in their Personal Social Education unit. Identifying their strong multiple intelligences, learning styles and interests, exploring the career opportunities and the career paths are the focus of the activities.
Visible Learning
Grade 4 have been inquiring into the various body systems that make our bodies work, and have created life size posters to showcase their learning.
Primary School Winter Performing Arts Concert
Join us as the Grade 1 to 5 students are "Celebrating Life" through music, dance and acting. The performance will take place on Thursday 29 November at 18:30 in the large Auditorium. Students should arrive back to school at 18:00 and the doors will open for parents at 18:15. We look forward to celebrating with you.
Conclusion of MEP Trip to Toledo and Madrid, Spain
Five IB1 and IB2 students participated in the 49th Model European Parliament (MEP) Conference in Toledo and Madrid, Spain. This prestigious 8-day event unites the top students from more than 28 countries in Europe with the goal of addressing numerous high-level international issues. All of our students were chosen to represent their committees in the General Assembly, and a number of their resolutions will be passed on to the next European Parliament lobbying session. A special mention of Sudenaz Kiroglu is deserved. She was chosen to return to MEP as a Committee President and did an admirable job of representing MEF IS.
IB 50th Anniversary
The Seniors won the competition during the "IB 50th Anniversary" for "the best class activity" with their successful IB Learner Profile Fashion Show. This Wednesday they enjoyed their prize: a pizza lunch at Eataly in Zorlu Center.
SS Random Acts of Kindness
November 13th was the annual World Kindness Day. Examples of Random Acts of Kindness were tagged to the counseling board for students to take and perform to celebrate this event.
SS UN Week: 'Tape the Teacher' Memories
A bulletin board remembering the teachers and students who partipated in the 'Tape the Teacher' charity was set up in the Secondary Canteen.
SS De Montfort University (UK) visits MEF IS!
MEF IS Secondary School students had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Zeynep Arscott and Professor Beniamino Polimeni to discuss De Montfort University's extensive range of programmes. DMU has the distinction of having achieved Gold Status in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
IB1 Theory of Knowledge Lesson: Perception
IB1 students had the opportunity to participate in a ‘Scent Lab’ to assess sense perceptions related to auditory and visual stimuli. In the scent lab, they tried to identify scents and, more importantly, the effects of scents on how we think, know, and remember.
Teacher Appreciation Day Morning Tea
The Teachers and Staff were treated to a bountiful spread of goodies along with a festive ambiance of candlelight, twinkle lights and seasonal music to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day on 23 November. Heartfelt thanks to all the parents that contributed and especially to the PTA for their organization of this event.
End of Football Season Celebration
Congratulations to all the students who represented MEFIS in the various football tournaments this year. We had a total of 6 MEFIS teams this season, with a record number of members and a great level of success. Our teams competed against a total of 15 different schools this season, as well as entering new competitions as far away as Ankara. Our Middle school boys were our most successful team this year, finishing second overall out of a total of 15 teams at the tournament in Bilkent, Ankara. Thanks to all the players and coaches for their hard work during the 2018 season.
