We wish all our MEF IS families and students a relaxing and fun filled holiday break. School resumes Monday January 7.
PYP Parent workshop No. 5 - Assessment
Our fifth parent workshop took place this week with a group of interested parents. We discussed what assessment at MEF IS looks like, the purpose of assessment in the PYP, and who is involved in the process. It was an interesting topic with lots of great questions being asked by the parents present. If there is enough interest we will present this topic again on February 9 at our primary school 3-way conferences.
International Tolerance Day
SEV Primary Schools and MEF IS Primary worked together to celebrate International Tolerance Day starting from November 16 to December 17. MEF IS Grade 3 students and SEV Grade 4 students shared what tolerance means to them and why tolerance is important with each other via I-movie.
SAC school hosted SEV Primary School grade 3 students and MEF IS grade 3 students on December 17 and organized a "Run for Tolerance" and "Tolerance Art Activity" and both school's students collaborated with each other and enjoyed that day a lot.
SS World Scholar's Cup
Six students from 6th Grade competed at a regional World Scholar's Cup round in Izmir on December 14-15. They competed in 4 different academic competitions, including Team Debates, Collaborative Writing, Scholar's Challenge, and Scholar's Bowl. They performed outstandingly, winning a combined total of 46 gold and silver medals to qualify for Global Rounds.
Global Debates in the 8th Grade
The 8th Grade engaged in a far-ranging debate on several facets of the units they have been studying on development and globalization. The two classes competed as to who could develop the best arguments, perform the most effective research, and ultimately convince the judges of their viewpoints.
Talent Show and Senior Auctions
MEF IS students and faculty gathered for the Talent Show on Friday. Students amazed with their talent! They sang, danced, lip synced, and played instruments. Additionally, Seniors sold various services to the highest bidders with proceeds funding charity and the senior trip.
