Overview

The MHS One Act Virtual Play Festival is currently planned to be filmed, edited and streamed. Partnering with building administration, the director does reserve the right to change the format of the final performance pending current health restrictions and with the approval of district administration. There will be three one-act plays, all plays that will feature actors in their best light and give performers the opportunity to focus on a different approach to acting. Being on film will be a different experience and requires a bit of change in performance technique from both a physical and vocal point of view.

Projected Timeline

  • Auditions submissions will be accepted through Sunday, February 21st at 9:00pm

  • Any necessary call backs will take place on Monday, February 22nd

  • Rehearsals will begin Wednesday, February 24th

  • Rehearsals will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays after school (likely starting around 4:00) - please note that you will not necessarily be called to all rehearsals. Each one act will have it's own rehearsal schedule and production team.

  • Filming will take place the week of March 22nd (again, this is flexible if necessary) but I am confident that we will be ready to film by this point and then have any necessary reshoots or editing.

  • Ideally, we will release the Festival on Friday, April 9th but this date is flexible as needed.

Audition Details

Auditions will be taking place virtually this year and all actors are asked to prepare one monologue from the Monologues page linked above. Monologues should be memorized and will be submitted through the google form shared on this website. You will be notified if you are needed for call backs, which will take place via Zoom. To do this successfully, you should:

  • Read through the audition monologue options and decide on which monologue you connect with the most.

  • Do the necessary work to memorize your selections.

  • Once you have memorized your monologues, you will need to film each video SEPARATELY.

  • You should slate at the beginning of each monologue video - that can be as simple as "Hi, my name is ___________, and I will be performing Monologue #1." Then take a beat and present your monologue.

  • After you have filmed each monologue separately, they should be attached to the completed google form found later on this website.

  • Audition forms and videos are due by Sunday, February 22nd at 9:00pm (the form will be turned off at that time).
