What to Expect on Exam Days

- Each exam is scheduled to be 90 minutes with an additioal 5 minutes added in to take attendance, go over directions, and enforce off and away.

- Students will remain in their testing location until the period is over. Please bring a book or work to do if you finish the test early, Electronics will not be permitted during the testing period.

- Attendance will be taken immediately at 8:04 am.

- Unexcused absences or tardies during an exam period may result in a student receiving a 0 on the exam.

- Breakfast will be provided both before the exam and during the break in the cafeteria.

After the testing period:

  • there will be a 30 minute break. The school counseling department will have activities taking place in the counseling office and lobby. Students will also be permitted to congregate in the library, cafe, auditorium, hallways, and gym. Teachers and administrators will supervise the hallways. All school rules and expectations will be in effect.

  • students will attend shortened classes on a typical rotation.

  • Attendance is required in all classes. Any absence that is unexcused will be counted as part of the credit attendance policy.


What to Expect in Classes During the Exam Timeframe (January 13-24)

  • Students are expected to attend all classes after their exam period.

  • On our last day of exams (January 24th) the first and last periods will flip so that we can have the G period exam in the morning and day 1 classes afterward.

  • If a student knows they are going to miss an exam they must get the absence pre-approved by the administration by using the Examination Reschedule/Deferment Permission Form which can be found by clicking this link and may be printed out or picked up in the main office.

  • There will be a makeup exam time on January 25th from 8:04 am - 9:34 am.

  • Students will not be given homework or major assessments beyond graded classwork.

  • Quarter 2 grades and midyear grades will appear on report cards available on February 1st.

  • PE, IPEC, Learning Lab, Online Courses and Directed Studies do not have an exam. Students are not required to come to school If they have any of these courses during the first period on an exam day. If students come to school during this time they should go to the library. Students are expected to arrive on time for 2nd period at 10:13 am. (Learning Center courses will take place if they fall during the first period)

Accommodation Information

- Students who have extended time as an accommodation will be able to continue taking their exam in their classroom until 10:10 am. Should a student, with an extended time accommodation, require additional time beyond 10:10 am, they will go to the following locations:

Last Name A-K - Room 215-2 (Library Lab)

Last Name L-Z - Room 207-1

- Students with a separate setting accommodation will take their exam, in the same manner, they would take a test.

- Students with an IEP should contact their liaison with questions regarding exam accommodations and students with a 504 should contact their school counselor with questions regarding exam accommodations
