World Geography

Overview: We will become "Geographers" this year and study the earth and all its variety, including the different aspects of the cultures in our world.

Our units will include:

• Five Themes of Geography
• 8 Traits of Culture
• Africa (with a focus on South Africa and Sudan)
• Asia (with the focus on the Middle East)
• Europe (wtih a focus on countries involved in WWII)
• South America
• Australia
• From here we will put on our cultural lenses and look into the 8 traits that make a place unique.

Unit Overview: We are currently making our way through Africa. We have completed a map of Africa, with important land forms, waterways and countries. We have visited South Africa, learning about apartheid and the endeavors of Nelson Mandela. Now we have identified the causes of conflict and are currently learning about Sudan and the group of Refugees known as the "Lost Boys."
