Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) is a 5-year Royal College residency training program at McMaster University. We offer varied and comprehensive exposure to all aspects of the specialty. Our program utilizes a Competence by Design curriculum model to provide an exceptional training experience for residents.Â
As physiatrists, we are a group of specialist physicians who work with people whose functional abilities have been impaired temporarily or permanently. We work in teams towards the goal of maximizing function, ability, and quality of life for our patients. We work closely with other clinicians and allied health professionals including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nurses, social workers, speech language pathology, registered dieticians, psychologists, and rehabilitation assistants.
Our faculty group consists of about 30 physiatrists and our current resident cohort consists of 21 physiatry residents.
