Students should be reading and practicing their multiplication facts for 20 minutes each every night.
Each day students write their assignments in their assignment notebooks. Before students leave school for the day, their teacher will have initialed all assignment notebooks. Third grade teachers also look for parent/guardian initials on the previous day. It is a good idea to check your student's assignment notebook daily to ensure that no assignments are left undone.
Students will bring home a folder every Friday called a Friday Folder. Inside the folder there will be graded work. Missing work, below-average work, and notes regarding a student's behavior in school will also be recorded inside this folder. Parents/Guardians are expected to sign and return their student's Friday Folder as soon as possible.
**Please note: Students learning remotely will not receive a Friday Folder each week. It is essential that students' grades be checked weekly on PowerSchool to determine whether your child has any incomplete assignments or assignments that can be redone for a better grade.
At MIS students are graded using Standards Based Grading.
Students are allowed to bring a snack to school to eat in the morning. Please make sure that the snack is healthy and does not contain nuts due to allergies. Also, it is a good idea to pack students a water bottle so they do not have to leave the classroom often for a drink from the water fountain.
