What is Title 1?
Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Federal funds are currently allocated through four statutory formulas that are based primarily on census poverty estimates and the cost of education in each state.
Currently, the MCSD uses Title 1 funds to support:
Reading and Math Intervention teachers
Activities for family engagement
Homeless Student Supports
The Medina Central School District collaborates with stakeholders to plan for the use of Title 1 funds. We are continually seeking parental input. If you have ideas that you would like to share as to how Title 1 funds can be used, please complete the following form. Your input is greatly appreciated!
