Essential Question Brainstorm: Think about the topic you are planning to focus on for your Senior Project. Create a Google Doc containing a minimum of 5 possible Essential (focus) Questions on this topic. Remember that your goal is to write an argument essay on your topic, so focusing on a controversial issue within your topic is advised.
Initial Topic Research: Conduct initial research on your Senior Project topic and essential question. Use JSTOR, RICAT.NET, the URI library and/or Google to search for possible sources for your Senior Project Research Paper. Thesis Statement & Annotated Bibliography: Draft a thesis statement (should be a one-statement answer to your Essential Question, found after some research is completed).
Next, write annotations for a minimum of five (5) sources that you will use for your research paper. One (1) of the sources should be your mentor interview. Annotations should include a detailed summary of each source, as well as a commentary on how the source will be useful in your research/research paper.
6 Hours of Fieldwork, Mentor Interview Notes/Recording, & Fieldwork Reflection (reflecting on Fieldwork thus far): Complete a Google Doc with notes from the mentor interview OR attach a link to the recorded interview. Also, see the Senior Project Handbook on the North Providence High School website for blank copy of Fieldwork form and guidelines for the Fieldwork Reflection.
