Welcome to the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy. We are Wes & Kristin, your Purple Team lead learners. Kristin has been attending the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy as a presenter and facilitator since 2013 and loves the collaborative spirit of "Everyone Learns from Everyone". Wes participated in Tier 1 (in person) in 2019 and in Tier 2 (virtually) in 2020. In 2020 the media lab entered a new era, on the cutting edge of transforming learning and teaching with the power of digital literacy and online professional development. Over the six days of the institute we will focus on how literacy is changing as a result of emerging media and technologies. We will consider the implications of this cultural and technological shift for teaching and learning at all levels, and explore innovative approaches now being used by K-12 educators, librarians, and college and university faculty, both in and out of the classroom. Through the week, you will learn how to conduct project-based inquiry using a variety of digital texts, tools and technologies to help create challenging and engaging learning opportunities for you and your students.
