Kitchen Safety Stations: Students will travel through stations identifying: errors in a case study, being safe when reading a recipe, telling the importance of having products labeled, identifying errors in a kitchen, telling how to handle safety situations and prevent fires, demonstrate safe food handling.

Dietary Staples: Units on Tortillas, Potatoes and Pasta (bread will be part of every individual culture). Each unit students will learn the background information for those products and then produce them in class.
Italy: Content (includes vocab of many Italian foods, cultural influences, weather, meals, etc) and quiz. Lab featuring Italian food.
Mexico: Students will explore and answer questions from the Mexican tourism website. Content including common Mexican food dishes and ingredients. Quiz. Lab featuring one or more Mexican food items.
Caribbean: Students will research one Caribbean island. They will have to create a postcard featuring sites of their island, foods, history, weather, etc. Student will also submit a recipe that fits criteria and a lab will feature 5-6 student selected recipes.
Arab Countries: Content (tourism information, countries in the region, cultural information, staples of the diet. Quiz. Lab featuring foods from the Arab region.
Greece: Students will research what their name looks like in the Greek alphabet and holidays or customs of Greece. Content will include description of Greek landscape, foods common, and traditions involving food. Quiz. Greek lab.
Chinese: Content will include yin/yang of food, regions of Chinese cuisine, common foods, and cooking methods used in Chinese cooking. Quiz. Lab on Chinese foods.
Africa: Countries of Africa, climate and social issues, food commonly served. Quiz. African food lab.
Germany: Students will make apple strudel. Content will include common foods of Germany and the traditions. Lab featuring German food (from former exchange student of Germany.)
French: Students will learn about French cooking (often considered to be the best in the world), what differentiates this cuisine from others? Quiz. Several labs on French cuisine: crepes, main dishes/desserts/bread products.
Foreign Exchange Student projects: Students will learn about classmates who are studying here in the US. What is their hometown? What does their part of the world look like? What is school like there? Preparing of the favorite food of that student. Entertaining and hosting the exchange student in class.
Regional Cooking of the US: Content includes the regions of the US and the foods they are known for. Quiz. Lab featuring foods from 6 regions of the US.
