Medford Summer Programs - Instrumental Band

Welcome to the Medford Township School District Summer Instrumental Music Lessons! We are very excited to offer opportunities for our students to participate in summer lessons.

It is hoped that your child will be able to take part in this fun filled educational program. Instrumental music lessons afford a chance to improve skills in an enjoyable environment. No experience necessary... all ability levels are welcome to attend. This program is available for all incoming 4th -8th Graders.

Who is eligible to sign up to participate in summer band / instrumental music lessons?

Any student who is entering 4th-8th grades in the Medford Township Public Schools in 2024-2025.

What is the program?

Six private one-on-one weekly music lessons for thirty (30) minutes.

Where will lessons be held?

The lessons will be held in Chairville Elementary School at 36 Chairville Rd, Medford, NJ 08055

When will lessons be delivered?

The program begins the week of July 8th and runs Wednesdays and Thursdays for six weeks, with lessons once a week. The program ends the week of August 12th. Lesson slots in the schedule begin at 8:00am. The last lesson slot will be from 2:30pm-3:00pm. There are NO MAKE-UP LESSONS, so please plan to attend each of the 6 weeks of lessons. Please note that you are NOT guaranteed the time slot you select. We will make every effort to accommodate your selected time slot, but depending on enrollment, we have had to consolidate lesson times in the past. We will be in touch in an effort to find an acceptable alternate time if that is the case. If, for any reason, we can not find a suitable alternative time, we will refund your $135 registration.

How much do these clubs cost?

Summer instrumental music lessons cost $135 per student, which amounts to $22.50 per half hour one-on-one session. The cost includes all supplies, however students need to supply the instrument.

Who are the teachers who will be delivering these lessons?

Traditionally, Medford Music Teachers instruct these lessons. Staff applications are still being accepted for this program, so final staffing decisions are yet to be made. Additionally, depending on the number of students who register and the distribution of those students, there is no guarantee on specific teacher assignment until schedules are finalized.

What instrument lessons are offered in summer?

The beginning band student instruments are: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, trombone, all saxophones, trumpet, and percussion. Experienced players may also have lessons on French horn, baritone horn, and tuba. Guitar and piano lessons are also available, but these two instruments are not part of our instrumental band program.

Can my child sign up for more than one 30 minute lesson per week?

Yes. if your child plays more than one instrument, or you are looking for a full hour lesson instead of a 30 minute lesson, you can sign your child up for two separate 30 minute time slots. You will need to fill out a separate registration form for each of the two 30 minute time slots. No guarantee can be made that the time slots will be adjacent to each other, but every effort will be made. Each 30 minute time slot will be charged the $135 lesson fee.

Can my child be in another summer program and take lessons?

Absolutely. Every effort will be made to accommodate a time and day request. However, we cannot guarantee your request will be honored. We will do our best. A spot is considered filled when we receive BOTH a completed registration AND payment. Once you complete your signup, you will receive information on how to pay for lessons. Your spot is NOT RESERVED until the registration signup and the payment is received.

Are make-up sessions offered?

No. You are signing up for the same time slot each of the 6-weeks within our summer band program calendar. If a student misses a week, makeups will not be provided.
