Sublet Application Process

If you were shown the unit by a current tenant rather than a real estate broker, the owner, or a member of the owner's team, you are likely submitting a sublet application. While the City of Chicago ordinance permits tenants to sublet, be aware that the tenant does not represent the owner, the management company, Martin Medenica, Medenica Realty Group, LLC, or Urban Apartment Locators and is acting solely of their own accord with the intent to sublet their room/unit. Neither the owner, the management company, Martin Medenica, Medenica Realty Group, LLC, or Urban Apartment Locators can be held responsible for statements made by tenants.

Here is the particularly important part: The tenant that showed you the unit may not have accurately communicated the building rules, regulations, and lease terms because they may NOT have a thorough understanding of management operational policies. Simply put, just because the tenant showing you the unit said you could, doesn't mean you can if it is in violation of the building rule and regulations. It would be wise to confirm any agreements, expectations, and assumptions directly with owner/management before submitting your application.

Lastly, you should be aware that you may be entering into a multiple application situation and that your app fees are non-refundable. The tenant that showed you the unit is the individual managing the showings and distributing links to this application page. Please refer back to them with any questions. Owner/management, Martin Medenica, Medenica Realty Group, LLC, or Urban Apartment Locators are not responsible for informing applicants about the existence of multiple applications.
