Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most serious health threats facing humanity. This could lead to 10 million deaths per year and a total cost to the global economy of $100 trillion by 2050. Global AMR Awareness Week runs from 18 to 24 November each year to increase awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance. The theme remains the same for 2023 and is called “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together.” It calls on all sectors to use antimicrobials wisely, work together and strengthen preventive measures to combat AMR.

Pharmacology teachers T.A. Akhaeva and A.M. Seytalieva are the leaders of students’ scientific work on the topic of preventing antibiotic resistance to antimicrobial drugs.

Students held a lively discussion on the topic of the presented reports on scientific research conducted by 3rd year students Zaina Al Tamimi “Retrospective study of E.Coli resistance to antibiotics in patients with infectious diseases on the example of Almaty” and Bakhtavar Ratib “Antibiotic Resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii: A Study in Almaty". Some students expressed a desire to continue working on the prevention of antibiotic resistance under the leadership of Dr. Seitalieva as part of her educational activities. As part of the event, students also prepared posters on the topic of antibiotic resistance, which at the end of the event were presented to all participants and which can be viewed in the gallery.

We express our gratitude to everyone involved in the event!!!
