About Mrs. Friske

The 4-1-1 on Mrs. Friske:

Some kids grow up wanting to one day become singers, artists, lawyers, doctors, or athletes. I wanted to grow up to be all of these things and more. This is why I chose the field of education. For me, it's where I can do it all...and help kids to discover that they can too, whether they choose to be pilots or writers, business people or scientists!

I began my teaching career in 2002, after graduating with degrees in Elementary Education and American Studies from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. I completed my graduate degree at Lesley University in Curriculum and Instruction in the Creative Arts in Learning department. My studies in this discipline shine through in my teaching, as students in my classroom often involve themselves in the curriculum through the arts.

I have worked at Memorial for 15 years, ten years as a fourth grade teacher and five as a first grade teacher. This year, I really look forward to learning as much from your children as I hope they will from me!

Warmly,

Mrs. Friske

My Fundamental Beliefs About Learning:

1) Mistakes help you to learn.

2) You are not supposed to understand everything the first time all of the time.

3) Care, perseverance, and craftsmanship are what count.

4) Good students ask for help and lots of feedback on their work.

5) Trying hard all of the time and using good strategies are what lead to success.

6) Everyone is capable of high achievement.
