Coaching sessions will focus on relevant topics in the annual process of implementing the best practices aligned with the instructional model (examples: district structures, classroom visits, scheduling, PD planning, PBIS, PLCs, cadre(s) organization, defining continuum of services, technology, etc.).
Support to improve and sustain implementation practices that improve academic, behavioral, and cultural outcomes for all students
Monthly coaching to develop/refine a framework of supports that focuses on continuous improvement and is sustainable over time
Access to resources and video tutorials
Use of a detailed action plan to ensure all components of the system are addressed
Support through a cohort learning model as a framework for district-wide continuous improvement
Successful districts increase academic, behavioral, and cultural outcomes for ALL students by implementing and sustaining a robust, comprehensive system of support - one designed to close learning gaps and ensure equitable access to high-quality, rigorous teaching and learning. The Close the Gap KY Summit provides district teams with intensive professional learning and coaching to develop, implement, and sustain a system of evidence-based practices.
Close the Gap Kentucky is intentionally designed for a prescriptive district team to participate and learn together. These five team members will develop a district belief on how to best serve ALL students.
SUPERINTENDENT
The superintendent sets the belief that ALL students can grow by working alongside the SoI and DoSE to model the way for all district stakeholders.
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPERVISOR
Instructional Supervisors will be key in the implementation of a district-wide structure for instruction.
DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
The Director of Special Education is a core component of the district's instructional leadership in the model. Special education MUST be considered regular ed first!
Serving as the school-level instructional leader, a clear understanding on educating ALL students is essential for this model.
ONE ADDIONAL TEAM MEMBER
Teams are encouraged to select one additional team member that will meet the needs of the district's vision and work.
The twelve-month experience will cost $7500 per district for a team of five learners to partner with Meade County Schools. This investment breaks down to only $150 per month for each team member.
In return, districts will receive customized coaching and training events, access to classroom visits, and exposure to a systematic approach to be positioned for implementation in the 2025-2026 school year. All received funds will go towards the salary of a Close the Gap Kentucky facilitator assigned by Meade County Schools and an investment in instructional resources for Meade County students. Currently, funds will be prioritized for classroom desks and furniture for our co-teaching classrooms.
