California Young Reader Medal

The California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) program encourages recreational reading of popular literature among the young people of our state. Since its inception in 1974, millions of California children have read and voted for the winners of the California Young Reader Medal. 

Every year certain popular books are nominated for the California Young Reader Medal committee. Valhalla students will hear the California Young Reader Medal Nominees for 2021-2022 and then vote for their favorite selections at the end of March. In May, the State winners are announced.
