Find Websites
You have a life science report and your topic is Sharks. If you enter the word, sharks, into the Google search bar you will get 129,000,000 results! How do you get through all that to find the information you need to complete your assignment?
Here are a couple of things to do:
- Go to Britannica School. It is an online encyclopedia with authoritative articles about almost any topic you can think of. Click here to find out how to do a Britannica search.
- Go to Google and narrow down your search. Click here for some tips. [I plan to make a video for this, but right now this is a video I see on many school websites]
- Make sure the websites you find on Google are:
- Authoritative
- Up-to-date and
- Well-organized - Looks professional
Click here for the Brainpop video that explains how to evaluate websites and get the best information you possibly can.
- Look at the Library Guides on this Virtual Learning Commons. The librarian has vetted websites for assignments such as the Fourth Grade Mission Project and Fifth Grade States Project.
