A perimeter is a path that encompasses/surrounds a two-dimensional shape. The term may be used either for the path, or its length—in one dimension. It can be thought of as the length of the outline of a shape.
Example: If you look at a fenced yard, the measurement of the fences around the yard is the perimeter.
How to solve: ADD the measurements of the sides.
The area is the surface included within a set of lines; specifically : the number of unit squares equal in measure to the surface.
Example: Thinking about the fenced yard again, the grassy area of the yard is the area.
How to solve: See the attached chart.
Measure any object around your house in inches. Find the perimeter. Email your calculation to acebum@mdusd.net
Remember that to get the perimeter, you just add the sides.
