World War II Newspaper Archive

A Northgate High School World History Project
The Northgate Social Studies Department has been fortunate to have had a large number of World War II-era newspapers from the Oregon Journal donated to us for the benefit of student learning. These antique newspapers are, of course, very fragile, so students have been tasked with creating digital archive pages of real newspapers that they will photograph, upload, and enhance with videos, maps, and other web resources. This will give students the chance to investigate and analyze real historical artifacts from the time period, build web design skills (using Google Sites), and preserve a piece of history for future students to benefit from. The archive was started in the Spring of 2019 and is still very much a work-in-progress. All photos of the newspapers are intended to be "zoom-able" so that you can actually read the articles. Just keep clicking until you get to the original photo which will allow you to zoom in. Thank you so much for visiting!
All articles are from the Oregon Journal between the years 1940 and 1945. This Portland-based newspaper was in production from 1902 until 1982.
