You may have read in the OMA’s Friday COVID Member Alert email that the OMA is offering members access to a custom-designed app called BookJane. This is an important tool that will help to match doctors with hospitals and community-care facilities that are in need. While our first priority should be our primary responsibilities, some of us may be willing and able to provide additional support during this crisis, be it in emergency departments, assessment centres, operating rooms, clinics or ICUs.
There is no cost to members to sign up for the BookJane service.
That contribution could be hours, shifts, days, or weeks. You may be needed in a clinic, long-term care facility, assessment centre, virtual care, or hospital. The site to which you are going will confirm your licensure is active and unrestricted. The site will book you through the BookJane app, where you will receive the job request including details and location. Compensation could be fee-for-service, sessional fees, locum fees or VC codes.
All you need to do is complete a quick and easy registration process indicating your availability, willingness to travel, areas of practice and what area in the hospital you’d be most comfortable working. Hospitals and community care practices will receive this information and select the physician(s) who best meet their needs.
To register for BookJane:
Download the BookJane app from your Apple or Android app stores
Sign in with the access code: OMA
Complete your profile
Thank you for signing up. We encourage your friends to sign up and institutions to search out staff. Make your hospitals, clinics and LTC facilities aware about how they can find doctors willing to help. The receiving institutions and clinics will need to proceed as quickly as possible with their regular onboarding process and procedures including confirming active registration, and for hospitals, appointments with privileges. Clinics who are looking for support to backfill for physicians who are working elsewhere or who are self isolating should hopefully use the tool to find doctors to help.
