My name is Kelsey Cirilli and this is my second year teaching Future Readiness here at MJHS! I grew up here in Morton and graduated from Morton High School in 2009. I attended Olivet Nazarene University where I received by Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education (K-9) with Middle School Endorsements in ELA and Science. I am currently working toward my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I was formerly a Kindergarten teacher in the district and also worked as the Athletic Administrative Assistant in the office here at the Junior High.
My husband, John, and I have been married for 10 years. We have two daughters, Hazel (9) and Ivy (6), and 3 dogs, Goose, Finn, and Mo Potter. In addition to teaching, I also coach the Morton High School Dance Team. I am really looking forward to being back in the classroom this year and getting to help my students as they explore and prepare for their futures!

All of the lessons taught in Future Readiness will relate to one of the following four pillars: Emotional Intelligence, Career Pathways, Digital Citizenship, or Financial Literacy. We hope to lay a foundation for students to see how important each of these areas are for successful futures and equip them with basic skills that will help them achieve their goals.
This program will be used to help students self-reflect, explore schools, and match careers. Xello can be accessed through PowerSchool and will stay with the students during their time in our district.
A variety of simulations are available through the Everfi site. Our class will be utilizing the material related to financial basics and mental health wellness.
Students develop a "Mission Statement" for their life and design a poster that can be used as motivation.
"I found this class helpful because I learned about a lot of different things that I didn't know about before. I learned about digital footprints, Future Smart helped me learn about the future, and I also learned that mindfulness is very important. This class challenged my thinking because I thought it would be easy when you are an adult but I was wrong it takes a lot of work."
"I haven't really thought about my future. Now with this class, I can try to shape and visualize my future. I have a good understanding of what my goals and plans are."
"I found this class very helpful in preparing me for my future because it helped me understand how fast it is coming. This class helped me know what smart decisions I can make now so that I have a good life in the future."
