New videos will be posted every week!!
Please note that there is a video for students in elementary school and a separate video for middle/high schoolers.
Text Readers for Read&Write

Dictionary, Picture Dictionary, and Translator
This video highlights the dictionary, the picture dictionary, and the translator tools on the Read&Write toolbar. A student can define a word, hear the word, see a picture of the word, and translate the word to assist in the learning of the material.
This video demonstrates how to use Read&Write's dictionary, picture dictionary, and translator to assist in the learning process as we work our way through digital text.
Highlighters and Collecting Highlights
This video demonstrates how to use the highlighters on the Read&Write toolbar. Highlighters can be used to assist our students in the learning process. They can use the highlighters to focus on words and identify key information, as well as, increase their engagement with the text. This video is intended for students at the elementary level.

Vocabulary List and Screen Masking
This video demonstrates how to use Read&Write's vocabulary list builder and the screen masking tools. These tools can be used to expand our student's vocabulary and also assist in reducing eye fatigue while increasing student focus. This video is made for elementary students.
In this video, we will discover how to use the vocabulary list builder and the screen mask in Read&Write. The vocabulary list builder is a great way to study terminology and have all your words in a Google Doc stored directly in your student account. Using the screen mask can assist with staying focused and reducing eye fatigue. This video is created for middle/high school students.
Word Prediction and Talk&Type
This weeks video is for all grade levels and highlights the two writing tools on the Read&Write toolbar. Prediction is a writing tool that is very similar to word prediction on a smartphone. It provides a word bank for students to choose from. One of the advantages is that students can hear the word, as well as, see the word. Talk&Type is a speech-to-text (dictation) tool that is very similar to speaking to Siri, Alexa, or Google. As we speak, the tool will type out what we say. This is a great way to get our thoughts down on paper quickly.
Read&Write's OrbitNote-Review of Tools
In this week's video, we are introduced to Read&Write's PDF Reader, OrbitNote. This is the tool that we use in order to gain access, or enhanced access, to digital worksheets. Because several of OrbitNote's tools are also on the Read&Write toolbar, this week is a review of those tools. This video demonstrates the use of the three different ways to access text for reading, the dictionary and picture dictionary, the highlighters and collecting highlights, the vocabulary list builder, the translator, and the screen masking tools.
OrbitNote is Read&Write's PDF Reader which gives us access, or enhanced access, to a digital worksheet. Because the OrbitNote toolbar contains common tools with Read&Write, this video is a review of tools that we covered in the first five weeks of Universal Tool Tuesdays. The only difference is that instead of using the tools on Read&Write's toolbar in Google Docs, Google Slides, or on the web, we are using the tools on a PDF utilizing the OrbitNote toolbar!!
Read&Write's OrbitNote-New Tools
In this week's video, we will look at the new tools on OrbitNote's toolbar. These tools give us access, or enhanced access, to digital worksheets. This video demonstrates how to use OrbitNote's tools to insert work on a digital worksheet. We will look at the shape-making tool, the freehand drawing tool, the text tool, and the pushpin tool, along with how to erase mistakes.
In this week's video, we will continue looking at Read&Write's PDF Reader, OrbitNote. This is the tool that we use in order to gain access, or enhanced access, to digital worksheets. After last week's review of tools that are found on both the Read&Write and OrbitNote toolbar, this week we venture into new tools that are used to insert our work on a digital worksheet. This video demonstrates the use of the shape-making tool, the freehand drawing tool, the text tool, and the pushpin tool, along with how to erase mistakes.
Simplify Page
In this week's video, we go back to the Read&Write toolbar and take a look at the Simplify Page tool. This tool can be used to declutter a website by removing ads and active links. It can change the font size and style of the letters. Color contrast can be adjusted, as well as, the length of the content. The Discover tool can be used to identify key terms and provide definitions. These tools can be utilized to give the best access to content on a website through the customization of text.

Practice Reading Aloud
Today's video highlights a fabulous tool on the Read&Write toolbar called Practice Reading Aloud. This tool allows students to record themselves reading a passage, a list of words, etc. They can listen back to their recording for accuracy and either rerecord or email their recording to their teacher. This tool gives our students insight into their reading as they hear themselves reading content.

Read&Write's Audio Maker and Web Search
Today's video will take a look at two tools on the Read&Write toolbar, Audio Maker and Web Search. Audio Maker is a tool that can take text on a webpage, Google Docs, or Google Slides and convert it into an audio file (MP3 file). The audio file is saved directly to the students Google Drive. Our students can then listen to this audio file. Students could listen to recordings of spelling words, definitions, Dolch sight word lists, notes over content, etc. Our second tool for today's video is Web Search. Web Search is a shortcut key to the web. Anything that is highlighted will be put into a Google web search window for the student, no copying and pasting is necessary!!

Read&Write's Voice Note and Check It
In this week's video, we are looking at the last two tools on the Read&Write toolbar, Voice Note and Check It. Voice Note allows a comment to be recorded and inserted into either a Google Doc or Google Slide. It can be used to encourage a student in the writing process or allow a student to leave a question for the teacher. In Google Slides, a student could record information about an image or text. Check It is a tool that can be used to check for spelling or grammar errors in a Google Doc. It will highlight the error and then provide suggestions that can be read aloud by the text reader. Both of these tools can be utilized to enhance the learning process.
