Prexy Pillars
Pillar #1
Marion City Schools empowers students, and engages their thirst for learning by providing educators with high-quality, professional development and training to deliver equitable and relevant learning experiences.
Goal: Marion City Schools will increase our gap closing percentage by at least 5% on the state report card by delivering explicit instruction aligned to state standards and student needs. This will be accomplished through consistent use of the district’s integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (iMTSS) framework, ensuring that all students, including those in subgroups performing below the benchmark, receive differentiated, data-driven instruction tailored to their learning needs.
Pillar #2
Marion City Schools provides an array of support to foster mentally and physically resilient students.
Goal: Marion City Schools will decrease the district’s chronic absenteeism rate from 39.4% to 37.4% on the state report card by implementing intentional, tiered interventions and strategies aligned with the district’s integrated Multi-Tiered System of Support (iMTSS). These efforts will include proactive attendance monitoring, family engagement, and targeted behavior supports to reduce disciplinary actions that result in students missing instructional time, with a specific focus on ensuring equitable access to supports for all student subgroups.
Pillar #3
Marion City Schools is committed to recruiting, retaining and investing in high-quality staff who will be valued and supported throughout their careers.
Goal: Marion City Schools will increase staff retention of incoming cohorts by 3% year over year, beginning 2024-2025 school and beyond by implementing a comprehensive support system for new staff, including structured onboarding, mentoring, and networking opportunities. These supports will focus on fostering a sense of belonging within the school community and ensuring new staff feel confident and supported in their instructional delivery through collaborative planning time and highly effective professional development.
Pillar #4
Marion City Schools connects students and families with community partners and resources to establish strong foundations that lead to student success.
Goal: Marion City Schools will increase student connection and engagement by raising extracurricular participation from 2,638 to 2,850 students and increasing student hours in our work-based learning program from 3004 hours to 3100. This will be achieved by expanding access to school-based clubs, athletics, and activities, and by strengthening partnerships with community organizations and local businesses to provide meaningful, career-connected learning experiences for all students, with an emphasis on reaching underrepresented groups.
