Curriculum Updates:
Math: Our classes are wrapping up our units on probability and percents, where students have been applying skills such as calculating discounts, tax, tips, and analyzing theoretical and experimental probability. As we finish these topics, students are strengthening their ability to solve real-world problems and explain their thinking.
We will soon begin our end-of-year review in preparation for the state test, focusing on key concepts from throughout the year. This review will help reinforce important skills and build confidence as students get ready to demonstrate their learning. Please encourage your student to stay engaged, ask questions, and practice at home as we head into testing season!
Social Studies: We will finish our year off by wrapping up our chapter on the Protestant Reformation and moving into the Age of Exploration.
Science: Panther scientists are diving into an exciting unit on electricity, exploring volts, amps, and ohms through hands-on learning. Students are building and testing series and parallel circuits, discovering how energy flows and how different setups impact circuit behavior.
Next, we’ll shift into space science, where students will explore moon phases, eclipses, the atmosphere, and more—continuing to grow their curiosity about the world beyond
ELA: Our students began diving into the Harlem Renaissance with students reading and listening to the musical Shuffle Along. Students are comparing the text and audio discussing and comparing the different versions. Students will continue to read poems, songs, and sculptures from the Harlem Renaissance. Students will end this module by creating a museum exhibit showcasing a variety of art from the Harlem Renaissance.
