Hi Everyone! This is my Professional Development Plan for the University of New Mexico: College of Education. Currently, I am teaching First Grade at McCurdy Charter School in Espanola, New Mexico.
Daily Learning Goals are communicated to students in the form of an "I Can" Statement. Students write and draw the "I Can" Statement they have mastered over a series of weeks. This final product (drawing) will be included in their Student Data Folder/ Portfolio which will lead Parent Teacher Conferences.
My Classroom is centered around Positive Reinforcement. I prefer Positive Reinforcement methods; because, expectations and how to meet them are being communicated right away. I do not have "Rules" posted in my classroom. Below is a list of all the ways I try to show Positive Reinforcement:
I will monitor student learning by tracking monthly student detailed reports on I-Station Reading and Math. Feedback from teacher to First Grade Students will be given when students graph their monthly progress on I-Station Reading and Math (Ability Index). As this goes on, classroom instruction will be adjusted as needed.
I will maintain Professionalism through Accurate Record Keeping. This includes:

2A: Feelings Zone Chart: What Zone Are You In Today? As students begin to understand the "my bucket is full" and "my bucket is empty" idea; I then introduce emotions. Colors help depict the feeling of the emotion. Student photos are included - they are not present in the photo. Student photos include students making the "Face" associated with the Emotion/ Color.
