Welcome to Kindergarten at Morristown Central with Mrs. Williams. I am looking forward to working with you and your child. The months of September and October we will be busy getting to know one another, making friends and learning new classroom routines. I would like to make this school year exciting, productive and memorable.

Classroom Behavior: Social and emotional development and learning is huge at this age level. The goal is for your child to grow in this area through play opportunities, our character education program, academic stories and daily adult/peer interaction. We will use the Positivity Project character education program to help promote students building positive relationships. Each week students will learn about a new character trait. Children will be expected to be polite, respectful and kind to others. Please support your child by encouraging them to follow school rules and be a good citizen.

Daily Snack: Please sent your child to school each day with a healthy snack and water bottle for themselves, not the entire class.

Curriculum: We will be using a workshop teaching approach for reading, writing and phonics. The Units of Study workshop programs by Lucky Calkins and NYS Common Core Math will be taught.

Communication: I believe good communication is necessary for positive relationships with families. I’ll be communicating with families through your child's daily communication folder, newsletters, and online through the Remind app and Google classroom.
