As Valentine's day approaches many couples are thinking of what they should get or do for their significant other to show their love and appreciation. But sometimes the ones you love and cherish the most aren't your partner, but your bestie.

For those who don’t want to spend their money and precious time on a silly significant other, Galentines is the perfect solution for you and your favorite girls.

Galentine’s day is celebrated on February 13th. You don’t only have to celebrate with your closest girlfriends but with all the women you love in your life. It can be your sisters, moms, grandmas—you name it!

The idea of Galentine’s originates from the show Parks and Recreation. The term came from the character Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler. In the show Leslie gathers a group of her closest gal pals for a brunch full of waffles and love. "Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast style, Ladies celebrating ladies" she explains in the show.

There is no correct way to celebrate Galentine’s, no set rules or traditions other than to love the women around you. For friend groups it can be just a small brunch together and for others it can be a whole evening of activities. No matter what you and your gals are doing, it’s all about the time you guys spend together.

One way to celebrate with your girls is to get your chef skills in gear and make some yummy foods. Not only are you saving money from eating out or getting take-in, but you are getting to kill some time with the girls. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, all meals work well no matter the time of day.

Another way is watching predictable cheesy rom coms. The ones that you know are bound together in the end no matter how many breaks they take. But. many of us might want to avoid the thought of love all together, so romcoms aren’t always the best option. The next best deal is to watch the most drama filled, laughable and ‘trash tv’ is the best way to go. Things like Jersey Shore, The Karashians, and Maury. However, all comfort shows are the way to go.

My personal favorite, secret cupid, Just like secret santa but cupid you know. I love getting gifts and I love shopping for others. Giving gifts on valentine's day is very ideal so giving your best girls some cute gifts like pajamas, hair and skincare, gift cards, maybe even a small care basket. I'm sure it all would make her smile.

No matter how you and your gals celebrate your love for your bond nothing is better than just being together. Being together reminds you of all the reasons they are your best girls. Even just wanting to make their day a little better during this slow time of the year is more than enough to show how much you appreciate them.
