About me

My Family

I have always placed a great importance on family. Growing up I would get together with my Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and Grandparents every summer, all camping together for a week. I visit my parents and brother who live in Tucson, AZ, where I grew up, regularly. I loved growing up in the Sonoran Desert.

I met my husband in Moab, UT working for the Park Service in Canyonlands National Park. We both love the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, camping, and taking our two young children on adventures. When my son, Orion, was born we decided to move to Montrose: a community we liked, mountains close, and a grocery store that didn't take 40 minutes to get to.

When my daughter was born I took 10 months of maternity leave to spend time as a family. Now she is with my husband who is a stay at home Dad and Orion will be going to half day preschool this year. I also have four fur babies and one scaly one. I have had guinea pigs since I was three years old and love all rodents. Currently we have Aspen (guinea pig), Hermie (rat), Dip and Dots (mice), and Bubba (beta fish).

When I'm not at school or playing with my kids, I enjoy reading, playing card games, watching TV shows, playing pickleball, watching survival shows or cooking shows with my husband, and calling my family.

My Career

I have been a teacher for 10 years in one capacity or another. After graduating from Northern Arizona University in 2012, I taught 2nd grade and kindergarten in Tucson. I taught outdoor and place based education to K-12th graders in Wyoming and Utah, before coming to Montrose. My son Orion was a year old when I was hired as a general education para professional at Centennial Middle School, and enjoyed this job for a year and a half. Then my second child, Cassi, was born February 27 at 9:40 pm. She arrived five days early. I had gone to work that day! I took the rest of the year off. When I came back to work, I job shared with Anna Sales in my current position, Spring 2020, and now full time. I am very excited to teach these 8th graders and to make this very unique year still a great one!
