Class overview
The four focus areas for any English class are Reading, Writing, Researching, and Communicating. All English courses will be working on standards under those overarching categories. English 11 is focused on American authors and literary themes. Ultimately, my goal as a teacher is to inspire you to enjoy reading and writing as much as you did when you first learned the skills. All four of these areas are pertinent in the real world. Another major goal of these classes is to focus on how these skills will further any and all future plans after graduation.
Welcome back! Hopefully this school year(21-22) will provide a sense of normalcy after a year of transition. The best thing we can all do for each other is have patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude. My best advice is to communicate, clearly and concisely, as often as you can so you can fully make the best of your education! We're all in this together!
About me
I come from a long line of teachers. I'm originally from Illinois, but I moved to Colorado in 2001 to pursue my passion for teaching at Adams State University. After earning my Masters in Education in 2008, I started my teaching career in Moffat, Colorado. I moved my family to Montrose in 2016. We love to hike, ski, rock climb, geocache, paddleboard, and camp, basically anything that gets us active in the outdoors.
