Individual Counseling: Using a collaborative approach, we will explore ways to manage stress, transitions, or concerns related to education/work or family. I work with children, adolescents, and adults that are struggling with behavioral, emotional, and/or interpersonal barriers. When working with children and adolescents, I am available to attend 504/IEP meetings as well as consult and coordinate with educational systems if requested by guardian/s and with proper release of information. Attending meetings may not be covered by insurance and therefore we would arrange a fee schedule for this service.
I specialize in working with mood and anxiety disorders, neurodevelopmental and other disorders of childhood (oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, Austism spectrum disorder), as well as sexual and gender identity disorders.
Family Counseling: My training has involved extensive work with families in crisis. Using a "family voice" approach, we will work to develop realistic goals for healthy family communication and mutual respect. Navigating the family system can be complex-I will work to understand and know the family culture and provide counseling that affords each member to be a part of the therapeutic process.
I will initially meet with the entire family to determine the problem areas. From here, I will meet with the guardian/s and then child/ren separately to further understand the complexities that make up the family system. It is important that all family members are present and participate in the therapeutic process in order to create and sustain positive change.
Couples Counseling: I have experience working with couples from diverse cultural and sexual backgrounds. The goal of couples/relationship counseling is guided by each individual couple. Partners engaging in therapy must be willing to put in the work needed to help with the problems in the relationship.
I will meet first with both partners for an initial assessment to discuss any concerns within the relationship. After the initial meeting, I will follow-up with each partner separately before determining how to move forward and developing relationship goals.
Training and Education: I am available to provide training and education to larger groups or agencies that wish to expand their knowledge on transgender health, working with a family system, and/or pet loss. Please contact me directly for requests and I will review my rates.
I accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health, Aetna, Neighborhood Health RI (as of 1/1/19), and Private Pay for counseling services. I can provide billing statements as well for those clients for reimbursement as an Out of Network Provider.
When utilizing insurance, I must disclose information about you to the insurance company (i.e., diagnosis, session notes, treatment plans, etc.). If you have concerns about this, please let me know so that we are able to discuss options.
To provide the best possible services for all clients, regardless of their income, I operate on a sliding fee scale for individuals using Private Pay or Out of Network. This means that the lower your income, the lower your fee. All clients are asked to bring proof of income to verify the hourly rate. Proof of income includes pay stubs, child support stubs, governmental aid stubs, social security statements, or income tax summaries. Annual household income is used.
Payment is expected at each session-we will discuss this during the initial phone call. Exceptions may be made at the sole discretion of Dr. Crossley for extreme circumstances such as unusually large medical bills with proper documentation of such bills. This fee schedule is subject to change and will be reviewed annually. This scale is for weekly counseling appointments-clients attending bi-weekly or monthly counseling will pay the regular hourly rate.
