The school counseling program at LaCrosse Elementary supports all students while helping them recognize their full potential through career awareness, academic and personal, social, emotional support in order to inspire student growth.
The school counseling program at LaCrosse Elementary provides a comprehensive curriculum to meet the needs of all students by addressing the following areas: career awareness, academic and personal, social, emotional concerns. This curriculum will help increase positive behavior to promote academic growth and encourage life-long learning.
Classroom guidance lessons are based on academic development, career development, and personal/social development standards as outlined in the Standards for School Counseling Programs in Virginia Public School. I met with classes every two weeks for a 30 minute lesson.
I meet with students for individual counseling sessions when requested by the parent, teacher, or student to address academic, career, or personal/social needs.
Check In-Check Out is part of our VTSS Program. Students meet with a staff member briefly in the morning to set goals for the day and have another brief meeting at the end of the day to evaluate how well the goals were met. Throughout the day teachers use a rating scale to track the goals. I meet with students as a part of this program as well as help coordinate the program.
