Courses 

Students explore the language and the culture of the peoples who speak this world language. Students develop their ability to understand spoken and written French. At the same time, they learn to communicate orally and in writing in a culturally appropriate manner about a variety of familiar topics.  Vocabulary and grammatical structures are taught within the context of everyday topics. Culture is embedded throughout the course and relates directly to the topics studied.

Students continue their voyage of discovery as they further explore the language and the culture of the peoples who speak this modern world language. Students continue to develop their ability to understand spoken and written French. At the same time, they learn to communicate orally and in writing in a culturally appropriate manner about a variety of familiar topics.  In other words, they learn how, when, and why to say what to whom. Vocabulary and grammatical structures are taught within the context of everyday topics. Culture is embedded throughout the course and relates directly to the topics studied.

The goals of these courses are to develop international-mindedness through the study of languages, cultures, and ideas and issues of global significance; enable students to communicate in the language they have studied in a range of familiar and unfamiliar contexts and for a variety of purposes; encourage, through the study of texts and through social interaction, an awareness and appreciation of a variety of perspectives of people from diverse cultures; develop students’ understanding of the relationship between the languages and cultures with which they are familiar; develop students’ awareness of the importance of language in relation to other areas of knowledge; provide students, through language learning and the process of inquiry, with opportunities for intellectual engagement and the development of critical and creative thinking skills; provide students with a basis for further study, work and leisure through the use of an additional language;  foster curiosity, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of language learning.

Estos cursos te dan la oportunidad de estudiar el idioma de tu herencia formalmente de la misma manera que los estudiantes nativos de inglés estudian su idioma nativo.  Estos cursos te dan la oportunidad de ampliar tus conocimientos en español y sobretodo disfrutar de las diferencias entre nuestros países hispanohablantes, aumentar el dominio de las destrezas del lenguaje para de esta forma ampliar las oportunidades de empleo y la entrada a diferentes instituciones académicas.

El curso de AP Lenguaje y Cultura te ayudará a refinar las habilidades que has desarrollado a lo largo de tus estudios previos de español, pero también te dará la confianza para discutir temas que son importantes para los hispanohablantes, así como para los ciudadanos de todo el mundo.  Toda la comunicación en el curso de AP Lenguaje y Cultura se realiza en español exclusivamente y tu calificación reflejará el Uso Oral de la Lengua (UOL) en el salón de clase.

 El objetivo de este curso es asegurar en que tendrás confianza para comunicarte de maneras diferentes.  El curso está diseñado para comprender discursos orales y textos escritos a través de podcasts, vídeos y lecturas (comunicación interpretativa). Así como utilizar la comunicación interpersonal y las presentaciones orales para compartir tus ideas y opiniones sobre una variedad de temas que abarcan obras literarias o temas interdisciplinarios relativos a economía, política, historia y sociología.
