The Academy of Health Professions (AoHP)

The Academy of Health Professions is a unique career development program that provides the students with classroom and lab instruction, to prepare them for a career within the healthcare field. The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) pathway is currently only offered at 5 high schools in the county. This program can be completed with the International Baccalaureate Career-related Program (IBCP). In addition, upon successful completion, students receive certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.

Program Highlights

This course allows students to learn a diverse range of skills as they prepare for the high demands of a position within a healthcare facility. Throughout the year, students learn how to interview and educate a patient, assess vital signs, obtain laboratory specimens, administer medications, and much more. Students have the opportunity to receive national certification as a certified clinical medical assistant through the National Healthcareer Organization (NHA). Additionally, to complete the career program, during Senior year, students must complete an allied-health internship or complete a course at Montgomery College.
