DUE FEB 22: NIAAA Student-Athlete Scholarship - The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) scholarship is open to students with > 3.5 GPA and who participated in two sports for at least two years and earned a varsity letter in both sports. Applicants must obtain a letter of recommendation from our athletic director (Mr. Toth). Application HERE.
State Winners - One male and one female receive a plaque and $500 from the MSADA.
NIAAA Section Winners - The Section 2 male and/or female will receive a $2000 scholarship and a plaque recognizing them as a section winner
National Winners - Receive a $4000 scholarship and a glass etching recognizing them as a national winner. Winners will be asked to attend the National Athletic Directors Conference in December to present their essay.
DUE FEB 27: Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter (MCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - One-time scholarships ranging from $500–$2,500 for students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement or those pursuing education or training in career, vocational, or technical programs.
DUE MARCH 2: STEM for Her - Scholarships of $2,500 (2-year colleges) to $5,000 (4-year colleges) awarded for tuition to support girls studying STEM in college. Demonstrating financial need not required.
DUE MARCH 6: NAACP Scholarship - The theme is “Unfinished Business: Reclaiming Our Rights Restoring Our Power." Offering several $1,000 scholarships. two letters of recommendation and short essay required, apply HERE.
DUE MARCH 8: AFCEA DC STEM Scholarship Program - Students must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and plan to enroll full-time in a four-year STEM degree program in an eligible field of study, including: computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, cybersecurity, or management information systems. Medical, nursing, and related healthcare fields are not eligible.
DUE MARCH 27: The Kimmy Duong Foundation - Between $2,000 - $5,000 annually (renewable) based on academic achievement, leadership, service and pride in your heritage. Must be attending UMD, UMBC, Towson, MC, JMU, VT, UVA or VCU and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Attendance at award ceremony on July 18 required.
DUE MARCH 31: Phi Beta Kappa Association (DCPBK) - Students must have a GPA > 3.5 and show a commitment to the values and mission of Phi Beta Kappa, including academic achievement, community involvement, and a dedication to the liberal arts and sciences. Apply HERE.
DUE APRIL 1: Masonic Charities of Maryland - Over 100 awards of $500 - $5,000, recommendation letter and short essay about future goals.
DUE APRIL 1: The Men’s College Scholarship - $500 - $1,000 awards for outstanding male seniors who have demonstrated an ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school activities and community involvement.
DUE APRIL 10: Sherry S. Hintz College Scholarship Fund - Must have lost a parent or primary guardian to breast or ovarian cancer and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The recipient may receive up to $20,000 per year for as many as four years of undergraduate education. Link coming soon, email tlatimer@everymind.org for more information.
DUE APRIL 15: Taiwanese American Community Scholarship Award - Three awards of $1,000 each, open to all ethnic backgrounds. Judging criteria are leadership (30%), academic achievement (30%), community service (30%), and essay (10%).
DUE MAY 1: The Kevin David Special Education Scholarship - Inaugural year, three awards of $1,000 to students accepted to a 2- or 4-year college. Short essay and teacher recommendation required.
DUE JUNE 1: Visionary Scholarship Program - Five awards given bi-annually from the American College Foundation with a total of ten scholarships awarded each school year. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,500 each. Student does NOT need to demonstrate financial need in order to qualify.
