For the Wheaton High School football team, success is about more than just winning games. It takes commitment, teamwork, focus, and a strong connection between players.

Giovanni Smith ‘28, one football player, explained that being part of the team means a lot to him because the players have become like a family. However, he also believes the team has faced challenges with being on task. “A lot of us are not focused and distracted,” he explained. He believes the team needs to stay “locked in” during practices and games, avoid distractions, and give their full effort to the team.

Andy Lopez ‘27 also emphasized the importance of hard work and teamwork. He explained that a successful team is built through the work players put in throughout the year, especially during the offseason. He also pointed out that the program depends on everyone contributing, rather than relying on one person.

The team has faced many challenges this season because of injuries. According to Andy, injuries have played a major role in making the season more difficult. Overall, the players' perspectives show that building a successful football team requires everyone to contribute. While winning matters, commitment, teamwork, and staying focused can be just as important. Their dedication shows that success comes from everyone working together.
