Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is proud to offer dedicated Well-Being School Social Workers who provide vital mental health and social-emotional support to students, staff, and families across our schools.
There are 42 MCPS Well-Being School Social Workers. All of our social workers are dually licensed professionals, accredited by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners and Maryland State Department of Education. Each holds a Master’s degree in social work from an accredited university.
Well-Being Social Workers are placed in each of our 26 high schools, including Edison, and in more than 20 middle schools. Additionally, MCPS offers district-wide consultation services to all schools by request. These services ensure that every school can access mental health support when needed.
Students can speak directly with a Well-Being Social Worker or ask a trusted staff member to help connect them. These social workers are also accessible through the Student Well-Being Team, which meets to discuss student concerns and connect them with appropriate school or community support.
