The mission of a School Counselor is to promote academic, emotional, social, and career growth for all students. We build a rapport with the students, teachers, families, and community members to better serve Takoma Park Elementary School as a whole. We work with each student to help him or her achieve academic success and personal growth. We work with students’ families and the community to ensure learning goes beyond the school walls. We encourage students to become life-long learners who are successful in all areas of development. Through the school counseling program, students will achieve a positive, healthy outlook towards themselves and others as they move through their developmental stages. The school counseling program will enable all students to experience educational success by promoting social-emotional learning. And, we will provide counseling to help students overcome challenges that interfere with learning as they arise and advocate for an environment that supports high achievement for all students.
