The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) is a jointly sponsored Navy and secondary school citizenship and leadership program for students in grades 9 through 12. Navy JROTC students can build professional competencies such as leadership, self-confidence and discipline, which are qualities that are needed to thrive in any diverse career. Course work includes military history and customs, and students are required to wear a uniform.
There is no requirement for students who participate in NJROTC to join the military. Instructors provide helpful information to NJROTC cadets who are interested in military enlisted or officer accession programs. Cadets earn 10 student service learning (SSL) hours for each year of NJROTC. They may also earn CTE Completer Credit by completing 3 years of NJROTC and taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
