MCPS Science Graduation Requirements
MCPS requires three NGSS-aligned science credits for graduation. This includes one Life Science, one Physical Science, and one Earth/Space Integrated.

Note: SVHS does not offer all courses listed in the Course Bulletin

SVHS Course Pathways
The pathways provided allow for students to complete their minimum of 3 science credits. While these are common and suggested pathways, there is some flexibility. Please talk to your science teacher, Mrs. Stuckey (Science Resource Teacher), or your counselor if you have questions.
Core Courses

Core courses are the basic courses designed to meet the MCPS graduation requirements.
IB Courses
IB Courses
Available to 11th and 12th graders ONLY. IB courses earn graduation credit. IB Courses can be used to fulfill the IB Diploma or Careers Program requirements or individually to earn college credit.

Electives
Electives
Electives are fun! These classes do not fulfill science graduation credits, but they are a great opportunity to expand on your interests within specialty areas of science.
