The school counselor at Strathmore elementary prepares all scholars for opportunities to achieve optimal academic success, maintain balanced social/emotional lifestyles, respect diversity, and challenge young minds to become life-long learners.

The mission of Strathmore Elementary’s School Counseling Program is to ensure a safe, positive environment where all students --regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, or socio-economic status will:

• feel a sense of belonging and connectedness,

• have equitable access to a rigorous curriculum,

• and develop long-term realistic and responsible decision-making skills,

• as well as consistent attitudes and behaviors that will help them achieve their goals for the future.

The counselor will advocate for equitable access to education on behalf of each scholar through individual counseling, classroom lessons, small group instruction, and through consult and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance academic, social/emotional, and career achievements.

As the challenges and expectations of our scholars change, the school counseling program, too, will evolve in an effort to provide maximum support to help scholars achieve their fullest potential.
