Halloween Happenings at Little Bennett Campground | Clarksburg

Little Bennett Campground is hosting a spooky Haunted Trail and Magic Pumpkin Patch this Fall, and needs volunteers to help it be the spookiest place in the woods!

We have 4 ways you can help us! See choices below, and choose the shift(s) that work best for you.

1. Decorate Camp Store, Booth & Trail (Sept. 21, 22, 23, Mon./Tues./Weds.) (3-6pm.) Help us decorate for Halloween in the building, around the campground, and on the haunted trail.

2. Haunted Trail Set Up (Sept. 29, 30, & Oct. 1 Tues./Weds./Thurs.) (3-6pm.)
Help us set up the stations on the haunted trail. Could include carrying supplies, setting up tents, hanging props in trees, and staging scenes.

3. Magic Pumpkin Patch Guide (Friday Nights Oct. 2, 9, 16, & 23) (5-8pm.) Set up and monitor the Magic Pumpkin Patch by greeting campers, helping children decorate seed markers, and guiding them through "planting" their magic seeds. At end of night, move pumpkins to the Magic Pumpkin Patch.

4. Haunted Trail Volunteers (Saturday Nights, Oct. 3, 10, 17, & 24 ) (6-9pm) Dress up and take your place on the Haunted Trail to deliver jump scares or support the behind-the-scenes team with fog machines, sound effects, and more.

• 2026 ASIRT & MCR PSA Contest (Deadline: October 4, 2026)
  The Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) and the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association (MCR) are sponsoring a Public Service Announcement (PSA) competition focused on road safety and how to keep yourself and others safe on the roads.

Documentation that qualifies seniors for Certificate of Meritorious Service - This award, along with a purple tassel for graduation, is given to seniors who earn 240 SSL hours or more. March 25, 2027*

Documentation that qualifies middle school students for the Superintendent’s SSL Award. This award is given to students who meet the 75 hour graduation requirement during middle school and is only awarded once. March 25, 2027*

    • March 8-15, 2026 (virtual/online) - Middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to earn up to 5 SSL hours for actively participating in online activities and virtual workshops centered on dating violence and prevention! 

    • March 15, 2026, 1-4 PM - Wheaton Community Recreation Center (in-person) - Middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to earn up to 3 SSL hours for attending this in-person festival focused on spreading awareness about dating violence and prevention! Registration will occur on-site.

Student Service Learning Graduation Requirement

All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school. Middle school and high school students should continue earning SSL hours towards their SSL graduation requirement by engaging in SSL opportunities during the 2025-2026 school year, including traditional in-person opportunities and select virtual/remote opportunities that follow the amended guidelines posted on the MCPS SSL webpage (www.mcps-ssl.org).

SSL Hours Documentation

• SSL forms for service completed after May 30, 2025, should be turned into the school’s SSL coordinator by the recommended due date of September 26, 2025. 

• Students who wish to submit SSL forms from previous school years must write an appeal to the school’s principal outlining the circumstances for why the SSL form(s) were not turned in by the systemwide deadline. The school’s principal will consider the information presented and make a final decision about the appeal.

The Cannon Road ES PTA is seeking high school student volunteers to serve as junior counselors for two after-school clubs:

Volunteers will assist 3rd–5th grade students by helping them stay focused and engaged with the activities.
