What time does preschool meet?
8:00am – 11:00am. We follow the Springbrook bell schedule for periods 1, 2, 3, and 4.* The time will changed based on the new MCPS start time. When class times are determined I will let parents know.
Q: How often are classes held?
4 days a week (Fridays are usually the exception).
The schedule is subject to infrequent changes, based on the needs of Springbrook High School.
Q: How many preschoolers are in the class?
We accept 12 children each year.
Q: Who are the teachers?
Ms. Aimee Hawkins is the lead certified teacher and high school students assist her in small learning centers.
Q: What do the children learn?
We emphasize the child’s social growth, as well as the expected pre-kindergarten skills: counting,
alphabet recognition, small motor skills, and large muscle development.
Q: What is the cost of the program?
$300 per semester ($600 per year). Children are expected to attend for both semesters, giving the high school students the opportunity to observe and document growth and development over the entire year.
A non-refundable registration fee of $50 must be sent with the application. This fee will be applied to the first semester’s tuition. Upon acceptance into the program, the first semester’s balance ($250)
Q: What are the age requirements?
The program is designed for children the year before they enter kindergarten. Children should be 4 years old by September 1 of the year they enter the Child Development lab. We accept children for one year in this program.
Q: What would be included in a typical day?
The schedule for the child includes group circle time activities (music, games, stories), learning center activities based on weekly themes/units (language arts, math, science, art, computers), outdoor play, and free play (blocks, dress up and dramatic play, puzzles and manipulative).
Q: What is the preschool calendar year?
We begin our program in mid-October and continue through late May. Schedules are adjusted to the Montgomery County Public Schools calendar and the needs of Springbrook High School.
