The SAT is given to all 11th grade students at MCPS. The test will take place in the spring, in March and there is no cost to the students to take the exam . The SAT is a digital format, but the students should be familiar with this exam as they have taken the PSAT in the same digital format. There is an alternate schedule on this day.
If your student has enrolled in an AP course, as part of this enrollment, your student is expected to take the AP exam for this course which will be administered in May 2026.
For exact dates, check out the College Board's website.
Please be aware of the following important details regarding the AP exam:
-Students are strongly encouraged to take the exam(s), but are not mandated. Students who decide to take the exam must be signed up and registered by November 14, 2025 at 11:59 PM. AP teachers were given the join codes for students to complete the sign up process.
-Several exams are going to be administered digitally. It is imperative each student arrives 30 minutes early on the day of the exam with a fully charged Chromebook. If your student is having difficulty with their Chromebook, they must see Mr. Foster at lunch in F227.
-Testing sessions run longer than the exam time. This accounts for logging in, breaks, and material collection.
-Students with extended time may forgo the additional time. If students opt to use their extended time, they must be aware of the total exam session length. For example, a student with time and a half taking a three hour exam, the student has four and a half hours total to complete the exam (not including breaks).
-Bus schedule continues to run at its usual time during AP testing. Students who are bus riders with AP exams need to arrange alternative transportation.
-Exam fees: while the AP exam is paid for by MCPS for all students enrolled in an AP class and who sign up to take the exam by the November deadline. A fee related memo from MCPS is forthcoming and will be shared in the Principal’s Newsletter.
