GOALS
POPULATION
Students served through this model require special education services primarily as a result of a learning or language disability that significantly impacts academic achievement. Students typically demonstrate average cognitive ability; yet have processing deficits that affect performance in one or more academic areas. Most students served in this model have previously received a considerable amount of special education resource support, and did not make sufficient progress toward Individualized Education Programs (IEP) goals.
The Individualized Education Program (IEP) team, in consultation with the supervisor of special education, recommends placement in the Learning and Academic Disabilities Model.
Springbrook High School is able to provide special education services for students with learning and academic disabilities, typically utilizing a model that may include components of self-contained classes, co-taught general education classes, and other opportunities for participation with non-disabled peers.
