What is the COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program?

Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing an unprecedented financial hardship for many Montgomery County residents, the COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program provides financial assistance in the form of a rent subsidy payment. This program seeks to fill the gaps for those who have lost income during COVID-19.

Application submissions OPEN August 18, 2020 at 10:00 am and CLOSE August 31, 2020 at 2:00 pm.

Are you behind on your rent?

Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Rent Relief Program is open now.

The COVID-19 Rent Relief Program is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and provides short-term rental assistance to eligible households who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visit the program website (English /Español) for information on who is eligible and how to apply.

• Immigration status is not required.

• Those who have informal leases CAN qualify.

• Those who have applied for the Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) Rental Assistance program may also apply for this DHHS Rent Relief program.

• Applicants can apply online on their own, or submit a Service Request with 311 to request assistance in submitting an application.

• Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, as long as funding is available. There is currently no set deadline to apply.

• For questions or for assistance in submitting a 311 Service Request, contact the Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center at 240-777-4940, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
