SUMMER ASSIGNMENT
Directions:
We at Odessa Shannon Middle School would like to encourage students to explore mathematics in a global context in order to assist them in their journey to becoming enduring mathematicians and thinkers. Research states that daily at home engagement in math concepts, high expectations, and guardian involvement (including discussing mathematics) help promote lifelong independent thinkers.
This summer, Odessa Shannon Middle School students are to complete a minimum of 5 of the tasks on the MATH-O board. We encourage you to challenge yourself by completing a straight row or diagonal, but if you need to jump around you may.
Please bring your MATH-O board and completed evidence (writings, reflections, etc...) during the first week of school.
Open and print these documents to reflect on your activities.
Use the MATH-O Capture sheet to reflect or show your work for paper/pencil or online activities - put the square you engaged in and write your reflection/notes in the "notes" section (1 activity per row)
Use the MATH-O Reflection Sheet to reflect on activities with videos (if you do more than 1 video activity, you will need more than 1 of these reflection sheets)
OR -- You can choose your own method to show your work, take notes. Please just be ready to turn in some type of evidence of work and reflection on the activities from your MATH-O board you chose to complete.
